You can root it using this guide (beware of downloads from this site though) http://www.nairaland.com/1294138/tutorial-how-root-tecno-d5 You can TRY to load a rom that runs on the same hardware (processor, mem, camera, etc) but there's no guarantees it will work. the tl;dr answer, There aren't any mainstream supported roms that are freely available.
