14.4m is terrible sales considering the 2 billion PCs in the world.

Because all PCs worldwide are used as gaming platforms. What an astoundingly ignorant comment. I guess there has never been a successful PC game.

If Sony is doing this well, this early...

I can't even begin to imagine the numbers, once compelling software you CAN'T on the PS3 starts rolling out...

Edit... Decided to leave this out...  don't want to rain on the parade...

Xbox One probably under 4 mn and PS4 now at 6 mn the gap is widening...

It's more than likely over 4 million, as it was at 3.9 million awhile ago.

Not sure where you were trying to go.. but yea.. if the numbers are as good as they are now.. I expect a lot more sales to come with the launch of the new titles (Drive Club, Infamous, etc).   Pair that with the update that will bring out the DLNA, CD/MP3, etc and many of the people who have been holding off will likely upgrade/purchase.

What I'm trying to say is... The PS4 is flying off the shelve's and most of the games can be purchased on the PS3....If this is just a taste of whats to come... Sony may be facing longer than expect stock shortages...

My last edit was stating: All of a sudden, I don't want a Vita any longer... But it has nothing to do with this... so i took it out...

Ah, fair enough. Yea I think that the popularity of the PS4 should have been an eye-opener for Sony, though it becomes tough to handle Supply and Demand.   You either out supply the demand, or out demand the supply, hard to find the middle.  I do think though that if they are able to keep improving and pushing out titles for it.. then the need/want for it will only go up.

I had considered getting a Vita, but for what I'd use it for.. there's no point.  I have my PS4 in my bedroom hooked to the TV no one else uses (unless we watch Netflix or something on it) so no need for remote play or anything.  Maybe if they drop in price to a ridiculously low amount.. I'd be tempted.

I'm in the same boat as far as the Vita goes...

There are too many sony Fan boys not really think objectively.   PS4 is really not the successfull in the grand scheme of things.  Where its not hard find a PS4 on shelf either.  They are not flying of the shelves.

You must live in a big city...  I live in one of the smaller states here in America... And lets just say, store shelves aren't littered with PS4's...

I am actually happy for Sony... They needed for this to happen desperately (Financially and image wise), and the positive results have exceeded Sony's expectations...

This also keeps Nintendo and Microsoft on their toes...

A company is actually doing themselves a diservice if their product isn't on the shelves. I don't know why people keep using something being out of stock as a positive. It's really a negative.

No stock on shelves = no sales.

People have been using the fact that the X1 has been on more shelves as a huge negative.

People will use all sorts of data to spin it to support their point.

In the real world, what matters is how each companies is doing overall and if they are selling enough to be considered successful.

People think having nothing in stock on store shelves (and online retailers) = GOOD...

When it should be like this: Stock on shelves means I can buy one.  That means that games and Online Passes can be purchased. Which in turn generates revenue for all parties in the gaming industry, which means that more games will be able to be made, and more features are added to the console as well.

Having stock readily available on shelves is what people should want...

That's why this is a good thing:  http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BGA9WK2/ref=s9_simh_gw_p63_d0_i1?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=0PYNKHXHFRCQ95X75Q9X&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=1688200382&pf_rd_i=507846

There is also the idea though.. that if something is sitting on the shelves.. it isn't being sold.  If it is not on the shelves, it means it is being sold as fast as it can be.  I am not saying either is bad.. but that would be the argument from the other side.

I could have 20 units.. all sold out.. or I could have 20 units sitting on a shelf not selling at all.

Or you could have 20 units sitting on the shelf after selling 20 units.

Which is obviously best case scenario.  If that were the case though, then the one with the stock sitting on shelves should be on par if not better than the one constantly sold out numbers wise.
