Computer Chair - What to Get?

54 posts in this topic

So I recently updated pretty much everything that I own, and then notice that I have been using a $50 Ikea chair, that probably ain't doing much good on my back. It's not bad looking, but its nothing nice either.

So I am thinking about upgrading.

I'd like some white and black design, something to incorporates those colors (or lack of colors). Though, I don't know what to look for.

What's a good chair, what features should be listed, etc? Also, are there any "good" once that are under $200, maybe much less?

What are the best options?

I have been fairly happy with this chair for the last 2 years. It works well enough.

Great chair, but definitely won't be in a $200 budget. They are over $800 chairs...

The first one I have to say, do not like how it looks.

Second, that just does not work at a desk.

And yea, Herman is holy crap expensive.

Often I wonder whether people who "recommend" an $800 chair actually have one themselves.

I would like to offer up http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/261299159461?limghlpsr=true&hlpv=2&ops=true&viphx=1&hlpht=true&lpid=108&device=c&adtype=pla&crdt=0&ff3=1&ff11=ICEP3.0.0&ff12=67&ff13=80&ff14=108

But it's pricey, I a similar have one, and then bought me some MDF coard and built a base for it to sit on, raising it to a comfy point, to be used as my pc chair, best part about it? I've never felt uncomfortable on it and can easily spend the day vegging out on my pc without it ever becoming unpleasant.. but then for that price, one would expect that..

Well maybe not an $800 one but mines from personal use :)

5 year old? It looks like 5 months :)

OP: just pick a chair that in the end of the day neither your back or ass hurts; i have an Ikea one and it rocks, in spite that the leather had better days

How about these... http://www.officedepot.com/catalog/search.do?Ntx=mode+matchpartialmax&Nty=1&Ntk=all&Ntt=High+Back+Bonded+Leather+Chair&N=5&cbxRefine=391779&cbxRefine=549384 all under $200 you can't beat a leather chair for comfort. Although the only drawback is in hot weather getting up fast from a leather chair tends to hurt your skin a little.

Oh, actually, forget it, it has a Bose sound system in it, guess that's why it's ?30 grand

(For that I'd expect a meridion, bowers and wilkins, or at the very least, musical fidelity sound system built in)

lol, I was going to say spend $800 on a better camera!

Hey, that's my N95 you're insulting :p
