OAKTOWN so wild even cops are running scared

You'd think they'd declare a state of emergency or something. If anything like that happened in Toronto, SWAT teams would be deployed. This is crazy.

Now the proper response would be to run off all these bastards over and put the car in reverse.  HOWEVER the cops can't do that because OMG what about the children and they'd get sued for hurting these poor poor kids.  So now instead you have a lawless city.

Obviously we need to spend more money on social and welfare programs. This is the fault of the privileged white upper class.

I think you missed the /s on this comment. Some people may take you serious.

If that were to happen here in Philadelphia you'd see it on the news for other reasons. The police would have violently attacked them all... For this level of public endangerment a severe and swift response is important.

This is what happens when you have a major populous of minorities on welfare living in a city too liberal to take action.

I am sure I saw people of every race in that video. This has nothing to do with race, but may have a lot to do with poverty or lack of police enforcement...

To resolve this I believe it is a 2 part process, a strong police enforcement policy and better education.

A lot of the poverty is caused by lack of education and a lack of education leads to a lack of respect for others.

Well said. Another part of the problem that is often overlooked is that people in poverty have been brainwashed into believing that they are in poverty because of other peoples successes, and let's be brutally honest its is also often made the white mans fault, therefore those in poverty often go to great lengths to keep each other in poverty. Anytime someone tries to better their situation, they are harassed, called "sell outs", and even assaulted. I speak from first hand experience as I once lived in a lower class neighborhood. I was harassed because I was trying to better my situation and because I am white. This is a huge issue that government has created by offering a 'no strings attached' welfare policy. I realize much has changed over the years and it isn't quite as easy as it used to be to get welfare but the fact is, there is little to no incentive to get off of it. As a society we have to come to an agreement on how such an incentive would be handled. My thought would be that the checks would come as long as you prove that you are actively seeking employment. Once you receive a firm job offer, the checks would stop, you would either take that job or have $0. At that point, if you begin to incur debts that you cannot pay, courts should be able to order community service hours such that the hours worked x minimum wage would equal your debt. No one would have the opportunity to get a free ride in life anymore except those who really need it, such as the disabled or elderly. I realize that this probably isn't a perfect solution but I haven't really heard anyone offering any significant changes to what we have now which is obviously broken.

The education is there.  Always has been, always will be.  Whether or not they choose to learn is up to them.  And they are all choosing poorly and not going to school, doing their homework, etc.  Instead they are in the streets all the time acting like lawless thugs.  So don't bemoan the education system when they have no desire to learn anything other than the streets.

^^ this. There has been a movement in some (especially minority) communities that education is bad, with good grades eliciting bullying. With that kind of mentality plus gangs you get this.

I remember the first time I saw Idiocracy.  It was so outlandish.  The problem is the comedic side of it is turning into a bit of foreshadowing.

Idiocracy - reading is gay.  Any attempt to read anything will get a "What are you, a fag ?"
Oakland - Doing good in school will get your ass kicked.

Idiocracy - The POTUS is a former WWA wrestling champ

Today -  The POTUS is a former ... [insert pathetic fact.]

There is a constant in this equation, a common denominator - a trait, or group of traits that all of those and others like them, have - but I dont know what it is.

The real question is, what is being done about it ?  Anything ?  Maybe someone from the area can enlighten us (unless someone has already in this thread but I didnt see it)

Welfare has very little to do with these situations. If welfare went away, this issue would still exist. I can assure you of that.

Dont throw a blanket statement like that - tell us why cutting welfare is not the answer, tell us why this will exist, in your opinion, if there was no welfare.

I don't think you got that right.  It was the conservative that was fighting hard to bear arm.  Liberal are trying to get guns off the hands of criminals and those who should  not have the gun.  Conservatives do everything to destroy that.  Now you blame what you saw on the video on liberal?
