Need free coin appraisal

Recommended Posts

I've got some silver half dollars and dollars (US Coins)  some might be considered junk silver, but some might be worth something more.  Will be selling'em online, maybe on ebay or other.. I also have a Lincoln penny in a cardboard sleeve (pre-rated at $115).

Google search results show "free appraisal" sites that eventually want you to pay... ugh...  Anyone know of a reliable coin appraisal site that's actually free?  (as in someone checks out coins for a hobby).   Is it even viable to take photos and have someone online check them out?

First three coins can potentially be worth some money. Probably not a lot, but definitely more than their face value. The Kennedy half dollars and Eisenhower dollars I'm not certain what they could bring.

Edit:

Hum has a decent reccomendation, selling them ungraded on ebay is a quicker less-hassle way to get rid of them and possibly get a good price out of it all.

It'd save you the hassle & cost of getting them appraised or professionally graded, and sometimes coin collectors on ebay get plain stupid paying way more than what some coins are actually worth.

The 1944 Half dollar is worth about $17

The 1901-S Half dollar is worth about $55

The 1964 Kennedy Half dollars are worth about $9 each

The 1922 Silver dollar is worth about $35

The post-1964 Kennedy half dollars and the Eisenhower dollars are worth about their face value, the Eisenhower dollars maybe $2 each.

I came up with these doing a quick estimation of their condition and looking up their value in the 2014 Guide Book of United States Coins (Red Book) which is a listing of the retail value of the coins (what you would expect to pay for them if buying from a dealer.)

I am having dinner tonight with the Duke of Buckleigh, do you know him?

He's a great expert, you know, Sotheby's and all that.

Now if you like, I could take them with me, ask him to have a quick look at 'em, and find their current value.

Hi folks, thanks for the input. That's definitely something to think about. I'm skipping out on shops/dealers because they definitely don't want to pay more than 80% of the value (profits for resale)  so I know collectors would better be interested.

So my options are to sell them as 1 lot, ungraded and let the people bid...

or

Sell them for suggested value by Lord Method Man

or

Let Shiranui show the pictures to the Duke :)
