EA: Greed is not the problem, it's incompetance.

I think it's a combination of both..

But mostly, yes, I would agree with that too...

Feel along the same lines.

Greed leading to short term bad business decisions instead of spending more money but making more money in the long run.

Lose a dollar latter to only make a dime now.

Bioware has suffered, downgraded since DA2 and ME3.

I too think that money is playing a large roll in decision making. It's like they aren't going in with a clear head.

That's what happens when they see how much money they have.. what will we waste a million on today?

I don't really agree. Greed IS the problem. You can mismanage a company all while not making anti-consumer business decisions or releasing broken/cash-grab software equivalent to giving your customers the middle finger.

Mismanagement is forcing terrible deadlines and demanding your employees to work overtime, all the time, for no incentive only to release mediocre products that don't fully meet management's impossible sales expectations.

Greed is continually choosing to add micro-transactions to full-retail games; offering day-one DLC or DLC that is just crappy; turning every IP into a franchise; churning out yearly iterations of said franchises with little to no innovation; securing monopolizing, multi-year contracts to prevent anyone else from attempting to compete (i.e. the NFL license); or refusing to offer your productions through industry-standard mediums (No more Steam releases) because they don't want to pay fees.

Generally speaking, mismanagement denotes some amount of ignorance, but greed is full cognizance of your actions. It's pretty clear to see that all of the decisions EA has made in the last fifteen years have been made out of greed and not mismanagement. EA hasn't been voted the worst company 2 years running now because of how they're mismanaging their IPs. They've been voted worst company because every one of their customers hates them.

I disagree also, its the greed that forces the developers to produce a product and release it by a set deadline even if the developers know its not yet ready for release.

No matter how talented the dev team is (or any other team for that matter), if you rush them things will be overlooked and mistakes will happen, ideas wouldn't be given enough thought as to how they will effect the games, stringent DRM restrictions will effect gameplay of paying customers (Simcity) and etc.

When I think of EA I think of it as a meat wagon just churning out as many titles as it can to make a profit and also making profit-orientated decisions on the games they publish. I think the whole 'greed' thing was started due to their DRM policies on some games though.

EA still publishes a few good titles now and then though.

I would agree that they have become lazy and incompetent.

Just look what they did to DICE.  Once a great studio, and then there was Battlefield 4.  On PS4 it is still a heap of crap.

Then they come out with 'we thought it was ready'.  THAT is incompetence.  How could they believe that was ready in any way shape or form?

If they just said 'we knew it was broken and were planning to release it in time and to patch it' would have indicated some kind of knowledge and accountability but saying they thought they were done was clownshoes.

So his complaining that the stock is pretty much stable and isn't rising fast enough for his expectations. Valve this and valve that, it's just another EA rant. "They can't do this they can't do that" - I'll wait for the day when you'll accomplish anything rather being and author of an rant.

EA has it's problems, we all know that but that story just just plain out angry rant.

Yeah... I would never say that "greed is not the problem" when discussing EA...

Huh?

I said I think it's a combination of both, they're both greedy and incompetent, the incompetence comes from being greed orientated and not developing their games to be better than what a lot of their titles have been..
