  1. 1. I prefer my popcorn...

    • sweet
    • salty
    • either way
    • inexistent, I don't like popcorn whatever the taste.

Because of an endless debate with my friends, I had to make a poll.

I live in Belgium and I'm pretty much the only person I know who prefers salty popcorn. At our large multiplexes you get the choice, luckily (even though there's always just a small amount of salted popcorn available), but usually you don't. As far as I know in Scandinavian countries it's always salty.

So, which do you prefer?

Salty, aaalways salty. Two funny stories:

An Austrian girl at a kitchen party hadn't eaten salty popcorn before, and when she saw the bowl of popcorn she didn't expect them to be salty. What happens? She tastes them and her eyes made it look like she just nirvanaed her mouth. Didn't take long before the bowl was empty.

Another time me and my brother saw a bowl of popcorn that a czech girl had made, we were both "oh look, popcorn!". Both took handful of it and realized at the same time the vanilla sugar taste. She continues to eat them and wonders why it looks like we just ate old food. We ask her what she put in them "oooh just vanilla sugar and some honey, completely normal in Czech Republic". That was the first and the last time I ate sweet popcorn.

I'll go for a null vote because I don't believe I've ever tasted sweet popcorn. Hell, I didn't know it even exists. Closest thing would be salty popcorn with ice cream.

Salt for me. Lately it's been extra virgin olive oil and salt and sometimes parmesan cheese.

Popcorn in Australia

Normal popcorn is salted (also buttered if you like)

But I've tried some gourmet flavors:

Salt and Vinegar Popcorn and Pizza Flavor Popcorn are probably my favorites.

But i've tried sweet popcorn and even caramelized popcorn and its pretty good, but you can't have too much of it.

The sweet flavor gets to be too overbearing after a few bites.

I picked "either". My favourite popcorn ever is chocolate brownie coated popcorn, which is as delicious and diabetes inducing as it sounds. Depending on my mood though, I can swing either towards salted or toffee popcorn normally.

Normally I like sweet.

Remember being given buttered a lot as a child. Maybe as Butterkist was new or something....

Toffee is quiet nice. But I prefer a nice light popcorn with a sweet hint, rather than omgz that toffee has some pop corn in it!

Whoa, so many different kinds :D ! The only ones I have ever heard of (in Belgium) are salty and sweet. Not very popular either, most people at the cinema's go with nacho's and hot cheese dip (which is really really awesome).
