Install a 8 Lane, 8 Port PCI Express Switch from PLX Technology Inc. ... hmm

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Today revising my device manager Ive found a "Base System Device" missing a driver. Looked it up in http://www.pcidatabase.com/ at it says its a 8 Lane, 8 Port PCI Express Switch from PLX Technology Inc. Not sure if its a chipset thing or not but...

Where should I get, should it be the chipset, the drivers from, Asus or Intel?

Thank you

Hello,

Intel (because the driver will be more up-to-date).

Can't seem to find from them. Google search skills must be off today...

Hello,

Arent ROG boards newer than this P5B?

Yes, but they are ASUS boards and are seeing the same or similar issues. I don't think the identifier is correct for what this is. I looked it up and it appears to be embedded IC -- and the P5B manual, etc. does not indicate that it has that IC or anything near it as far as I can tell.

Hello,

Try installing the ACPI driver from ASUS.

Direct link

Nope, this wasnt it. Tried installing and it showed that it couldnt load the drivers for this device.

Just to rule this out, you don't have any sort of additional raid card installed in the system right?

I think that's the culprit. The other stuff I've found via searching in the past few days regarding this issue has appeared to be related to Rockraid 640s e.g.:

https://vip.asus.com/forum/view.aspx?board_id=1&model=Rampage+II+Extreme&id=20100813023743062&page=1&SLanguage=en-us

Initially, I assumed you didn't have a RAID card on the system and that it must be something else.

EDIT: fixed links.

This happens for not listening to BudMan and getting cheap RAID controllers

Just in case for the future, MEGA mirror:

Thank you. Marking as solved.
