The Next Batman Game Is Arkham Knight

WB has announced Arkham Knight via this month's Game Informer. It'll be a big open world Gotham featuring Scarecrow, Penguin, Two-Face, Harley Quinn, and a driveable Batmobile. Out for PC, Xbox One, and PS4 later this year.
Original story follows:

An early GAME UK retail leak has spoiled today's big Batman reveal: it's Batman: Arkham Knight, the final game in the Arkham series, and it'll be out this year for PC, Xbox One, and PS4.

Last week, GameStop started receiving marketing materials for Arkham Knight, which match up with the box art above. This will be the third Batman game by Rocksteady, the studio behind Arkham Asylum and Arkham City. Last year's Arkham Origins was developed by WB Montreal.

Looks like the Batmobile is driveable, and Scarecrow will be the main villain. Seems like there's no current-gen version, which is good news, as they won't have to scale down anything to fit into old hardware.

Rumors have swirled about Rocksteady's next Batman game for quite some time now, after Batman voice actor Kevin Conroy accidentally mentioned that he was working on an Arkham game that was not Origins.

I haven't even played Arkham Origins yet! Although what I've heard about it has me a little wary, more of the same without any real imrprovements or additions. And I also note from the article that Origins was done by WB and not Rocksteady. Maybe that means that Arkham Knight will be awesome again seeing as it's back in the creator's hands.

i'm rather conflicted on if i want to get this or not

I want to play this game but at the same time I don't want to support WB/Rocksteady after their snide comments about not fixing the bugs in Origins

Hang on a second. You're right, I remember reading that too. So Rocksteady did have a hand in Origins?

Except it wasn't Rocksteady that refused to fix the bugs, it's Warner Bros. Games Montreal.

I'm excited about this game, though somewhat saddened it's the last.

Yeah a lot of repetitive gameplay, but alas, a decent batman game since  Batman forever on snes (the best batman game to date IMO )

awwww series finale :(

Yeah, it's a shame that it's the series finale! I expected several more Arkham games to be honest.

I'll be playing it regardless though because I'm a sucker for anything Batman. But yeah, their way of handling bugs was terrible.

This image right here promises something awesome though!

I wonder if having his cape in his arm is some sort of teaser for the next franchise? Batman Beyond ? Or just him hanging up his cape?

A Batman Beyond game could be great. They're about to introduce Terry McGinnis into Earth-Prime in the comic-books as well, so it would be neat if these games did the same. But it might as well be something insignificant.

^Nice fan art, haha. That's the suit from The Dark Knight/The Dark Knight Rises but modified by a fan. Not really liking that to be honest.

This has to much red for any stealth.

That one looks the best though for an Arkham type game. The one above it looks a bit too clean.

Trailer at the 5 minute mark.

The trailer is in the OP ;)

I just cant win with you :p

Haha, I'm picky when it comes to these things :p The top one is basically the cartoon/comic version ported into the game whereas the second one is a re-imagining for a 'real world' version. But I do agree that it has too much red for a stealthy look.

Doesn't the batman beyond suit have some fancy active camo that makes you invisible?  If you have that then it doesn't really matter if it has a bit more red in it.

Yep, the current comics are a continuation of the animated series so everything is exactly the same. I believe we're going rather off-topic though, haha :p

I don't really worry that this is the final Arkham game, but have rocksteady said they're not going to do another batman game period?  I'm sure WB will keep making them as the IP holder.

It would be nice to see them do another DC IP. Superman deserves a proper game for once, (even if he is a terrible character :P). As long as they aren't made to do MMOs or movie tie ins, I'm sure they'll be fine.
