Dick Montage Posted March 5, 2014 Share Posted March 5, 2014 Hi I have a TV that has a headphone socket. This used to be wired via 3.5mm jack to 2 x phono (RCA) into a stereo. The stereo had 3 x speaker connectors (2 speakers, 1 sub). The stereo died. The only use I had for it was for that amplification and to the speakers. What's a nice small (as small as possible) device I can use for this goal? I just want to take the headphone signal, amplify it and send it out to the 2.1 speakers - which are wired in place so not replaceable. Ta Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Can you change the connector or wire that runs to the speakers. You mention they are hard wired in place? But yeah I would think a simple amplifier is what your after - budget? You mention that you want it small but don't mention any sort of budget.. I don't think the low freq is broken out to its own channel, I believe it is just downsampled? if your speaker set? Has the connection to the sub this should work. If you need your own input to the sub then you would need a receiver that does the amplification and downsamples both channels (left, right) out to the sub.. Like I said I am no audiophile.. so maybe I am completely wrong there. Budget, not really sure but there are just "bedroom speakers for the occasional TV viewing after the pub" so quality isn't a big deal :) It's a passive sub, and I used to take 2.1 into it - but no worries.
