aberflasm
i am fairly new to partioning and what i was wondering if i could gain performance by putting certain files such as temp internet files and page files on a seperate partion than xp? currently i have a 15gb hard drive with xp on 6.50gb and my programs on the another partion 7.81gb. can anyone recomend what should be put on a different partion to help speed up performance or for whatever reason? can i put the programs folder on another partion ( i have the programs folder on the same partion as xp however i have installed my programs on to the other partition.)? any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanx. Khujo
you won't get more performance from moving things to a different partition on the same drive, but if you have to hard drives, putting the pagefile on the other drive then were the os resides can increase system performance. I usually use multiple swap files on my other drives, i have 4 hard drives though. I use 2 384 MB swap files each on a different hard drive. neowin_hipster
If you don't write to your OS partition as much (or vice versa) it could prevent extensive fragmenting on that partition
