Rides on the MQB platform

Volkswagen has unveiled the T-ROC concept at the company's preview event in Geneva.

Designed to preview a "possible SUV range," the T-ROC is a three-door crossover coupe with a striking Blue-Splash Metallic exterior that features a three dimensional grille, LED headlights and LED daytime running lights that also double as turn signals. The crossover also has plastic body cladding, muscular wheel arches and 19-inch alloy wheels. However, the real coup de gr?ce is a two-piece removable roof that can be stored in the cargo compartment.

The angular interior comes nicely equipped with leather upholstery, Blue-Splash Metallic trim and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. The model also has split folding rear seats, a digital climate control system and a removable tablet that acts as an infotainment display.

Power is provided by a 2.0-liter TDI four-cylinder engine that develops 184 HP (135 kW) and 380 Nm (280 lb-ft) of torque. It is connected to a seven-speed DSG transmission and a 4MOTION all-wheel drive system which enables the 1,420 kg (3,130 lb) crossover to accelerate from 0-100 in 6.9 seconds and hit a top speed of 210 km/h (130 mph). In terms of fuel efficiency, the concept averages 4.9 L/100km (48 mpg US / 57.6 mpg UK) and has CO2 emissions of 129 g/km.
