Many of us Neowinians have a tablet by now. The question is - what do you use it for?

The main uses the tablet has for me are browsing the web, reading emails, social media, reading e-books and casual gaming. What do you do with yours?

iPad 2.

I very occasionally use it to read things while sitting on the couch, that's pretty much it.

This poll would have much more interest with a poll result where you can see how the different tablets types get used.

as

I have a ipad 2 now, it's used for a lot of things in that list, but non of the things includes editing or the creation of anything like programming. this would be the case if I had a newer ipad as well and in most cases android thoguh some android could be used for some light weight editing. if I had a full windows 8 tablet the results would be a lot different as it'd probably tick all the boxes. except alarm clock, I have my phone for that :p

I had a Nexus 7 for about a month but I couldn't really find a use for it, since my phone does literally the same things.. so I gave it to a friend. Otherwise it would be collecting dust!

I use my Nexus 7 for content consumption (web, email, social media and reading documents), as a remote control for media services and basic remote monitoring/management of some servers.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1

Use it mainly for web browsing, Reddit and Facebook. Got a couple of games on there as well, and it's set up with my Chromecast for Netflixing. Don't use it for note taking very often to be honest, the S-Pen largely remains unused.

iPad Air

Browsing, reading (my reading has increased dramatically since I bought the tablet), a few games, etc.

Asus Transformer Prime [Android] - I dont really use it for anything now, i have randomly used it for watching TV shows with Plex and playing a few games in the past.

I would just sooner use a PC / Laptop, my phone does anything i can do on the tablet anyway, with the added benefit of having a 3g connection.

I'm glad however my mum is getting a lot of use out of the tablet, shes uses it for email, games and web browsing.

iPad 2 - Pretty much it's only use now is The Simpsons Tapped Out now - power user . Work email also is better on there as opposed to my Nexus 5, but thats about it.

I'll be getting a work provided iPad soon, and as that has all the corporate stuff on it will probably see much more use than my personal one ever has!

Toshiba Thrive (Android) - Initially purchased it for tethered shooting using the dslr controller app and also as a neat portable photo viewer.

Since I changed my camera and the app does not support it, I gave it to my wife.

So basically, she just plays her little puzzle games on it once in a while.

Multiple devices. One is an Android, doesn't get used much anymore as I typically have an Android based phone on me anyway, probably going to give the thing to my neighbor's kid. One runs Windows 7, I use that one reasonably often for the "usual tablet stuff" when I'm away from the desk. Surface Pro or equivalent is on the agenda in the reasonably near future. One "runs" Windows XP (barely), it's collecting dust as I hate to throw old junk away.. tempted to frankenbuild a USB LCD display out of the thing, replace an old CrystalFontz panel I use on one of my servers for laughs.

ipad 2.

xbmc movies and recorded TV streamed from my main PC.

Browsing the net, etc.

I usually take it to work to watch movies uploaded to the ipad using ifunbox.

I have both an iPad 2 and a Kindle Fire HD. I use the Kindle only for reading but I do read quite often. My son pretty much owns my iPad 2 - he's either on Netflix or YouTube, occasionally plays some games. My wife has an iPad Mini and she's on the thing all the time - social media and web browsing.

Any more it sits on a dock on my desk at work and I only use it to listen to music. Its the original xoom and its not aging well. I used to use it every day to write stuff, brows the web and play games.

i use my iPad Air for about 3-4 hours a day at work..Going to different meetings, taking notes, Remote Desktop, Expense Reports, but mostly Remote Desktop.. As many of you guys on here, know that I hate(ed) Windows 8.. For Remote Desktop over an iPad, Windows 8 is so much better than Windows 7.. So, I deleted my Windows 7 VM and created a Windows 8.1. I have them running on my iMac, huge difference.. I have to use Windows for a lot of networking and system admin tools..

Bought a Nexus 10 when it first came out, loved it. Used it for emails, web browsing in bed, social media, watching movies/TV in bed and Skype because I don't have a webcam on my desktop. I also download torrents on it overnight sometimes when I want to sleep. My PC is next to my bed so its too loud for me. At this distance even the noise the XBO and PS4 make in standby mode irritates me.

Sold my Nexus 10 last week and put the money towards an LG Gpad 8.3 and promptly put Cyanogenmod onto it. Now I've got my own little "Nexus 8".

I mostly use my Surface 2 for entertainment. Movies, Netflix, internet TV, while I'm doing things around the house (I do not have cable or satellite), ebooks, browsing web, etc...

But while I was on vacation over Christmas, I snapped on the keyboard and added a (bluetooth) mouse and used it to get some work done.... because it has a full version of Microsoft Office (which includes Outlook).

Was just reading this topic to see what use a tablet has for anybody.

Personally,

I don't have one and see no reason to get one! No need for playing keep up with the Jones's here!

Nexus 7 2013 (finally got one so I could give the original Nexus 7 to mother-in-law).  Use it mainly for reading and work- have 30+ printer service manuals on it for printer repair.  Much easier than the laptop (lighter, easier to carry, etc).
