Speaker: Ron Little (Sony Computer Entertainment America)

Synopsis:

Authoring Tools Framework (ATF) is a set of C#/.NET components for making game development tools on Windows. ATF has been in development for over 8 years and has been used to make many custom tools such as Naughty Dog's level editor and shader editor for The Last of Us, Guerrilla Games' sequence editor for Killzone: Shadow Fall, an animation blending tool at Santa Monica Studio, a level editor at Bend Studio, a visual state machine editor for Quantic Dream, and many others. After many years of proprietary releases, ATF is now being released as an open source project on GitHub. This talk will introduce the open source project and demonstrate some of the many components ATF offers to streamline tool development. The extensible framework and efficient, well-tested components provide everything from common tasks like property editing and window docking to higher-level functionality like circuit editing and DirectX 11 rendering.

Speaker Bio:

Ron Little: Ron Little is a software engineer with 21 years of professional programming experience, including nearly all aspects of game development. He currently leads a small team that improves and maintains the Authoring Tools Framework at Sony Computer Entertainment America. Past jobs include making games at Cyclone Studios, The 3DO Company, and Stormfront Studios, and writing civil engineering software.

Continues...

Figured we could keep the topics / discussion in one place since there seems to be a lot scheduled. Will keep the OP up to date if more is announced.

Really looking forward to GDC this year, not just due to the rumoured VR announcement, but I think we'll see a lot of good indie news. Hopefully a PS4 FW update will be announced as well.

GDC is a good place to see how Sony intends to continue pushing forward with its plans. I see some interesting events are planned, so I'll be following it for sure.

I second the hope that we hear something about the next FW update around the same time. The VR stuff is a close second.

Oh I'm sure that headline will go over well with the Oculus Rift guys and supporters.

I hope more of these news sources try to reign in their enthusiasm.

This is happening in a matter of hours. Shuhei says on Twitter it's being recorded by Sony and IGN, so video will come.
