IE11 slow to render this site

Recommended Posts

It is just getting annoying.

Scrolling down I have to wait for the rendering to pick up the slack - especially on the random picture thread.

Very noticeable on low end GPUs like Intel chips (Surface 2 pro) and embarrassing too frankly.

Only website where I experience issues like this. :(

Just testing it out now on my laptop (which is the slower of my machines) and I am not having these issues.

Assuming you're using a Surface 2 Pro, it would be worth someone else with a similar device to test it and see if they are also having issues, might be worth Ctrl+F5?

I disable Flash, that solves most of my performance or browser stability issues on IE11 x64.

I actually noticed this too on a few websites (not just here).  The weird part is, my system should have enough power to handle it (GTX 680).  Chrome renders things fine.

I have an HP Tm2 tablet PC (Core i5 470um) and I can say without a doubt that IE 11 (x64) is the fastest browser of them all using the Intel GPU.

Chrome is close but it's not as fast and Firefox is laughably slow (even the latest Aurora).

So, if updating your drivers or disabling HW acceleration doesn't work, maybe some extension is the problem.

ads.. and terrible  code that's the problem lol I love my IE and if I have any issues with a site I just add it to compatibility mode

I have the same issue and its frankly awful.

My brand new ultrabook's fan revs up and rendering takes sometimes up to a few seconds when scrolling.  Core i7 / Intel 4400 / SSD / 8GB Ram.  Not top of the line system by any means but this is the only site I've noticed that does this.

Makes the site unusable.

Anywho, works fine for me.  Did you do the normal, disable all addons/plugins and delete IE cache/reset settings routine?  Update graphics drivers?

I experience the same problem. But we all know that IPB barely supports IE11, so it's not all that surprising. Have an Iris 5100 and it is still slow. Can play WoW at ~40FPS on ultra, but this site renders terribly.

IE 11.1 is coming in the next couple of weeks... I remember they mentioned the other day in the conference, that they will provide improvements on that regard...

actually 11.0.7 is the next version and it's available in Windows 8.1 Update one

I get the same issue with NV 660, but I have to be mining / folding for it to be noticeable.

This is with all addons, including flash, disabled, and still happens in the latest version of IE.

For me the problem is largely minimized if I lower my resolution from 3200x1800 to 1600x900.  Of course everything is a little ugly then.

Ultimately that's why I use IE11... its decent HiDPI support.  And if the browser is fine with Neowin's homepage as well as The Verge (which is pretty graphically "heavy") something is going on with the forums that its struggling with.

Anyways, not a big deal.  I don't spend enough time on the forums to invest too much more time into this, if it doesn't affect most people.

FF pulls up TMZ instantly.

I have to ask, why on earth is anyone even using IE11 ?

Becuase its actually a great web browser. Most of you hating on IE are doing it because of previous versions, IE 10 and beyond have been very good.

On my HiDPI laptop I still find it the best browser available.  Chrome is awful with HiDPI displays, Firefox being acceptable but not perfect.
