iPhone 3GS going to my father...need a couple of accessories for him

My father is finally moving into 2010.  He had an old samung rugby flip phone.  While that suited him fine, the phone bill for 3 lines was pretty high.  AT&T has this new mobile share plane for $145 a month which would save about $40.  

 

So, my mother's perfect condition 3GS is going to him.  But I want it in a case.  It seems though that rugged cases for the 3GS are harder to come by now.  Most of them on amazon are just the kiddie ones now.  Is there one like the otterbox defender series but isn't so expensive?  I'd like one with a good detachable belt clip.

You can't judge these cases by the price as they're cranked out like sausages in China, with some selling at high prices and near identical units for single digits.

I bought a $5 generic kickstand hybrid (silicone + polycarbonate) case for my LG Optimus G Pro phablet and it turned out great. Saw the exact same case later for $2 and got a spare.

One with a belt clip may be harder. I use an inexpensive holster made for use with the otterbox. Not really a fan of simple clips as I've had them pop off after sitting. A holster with loops is another matter.
