Turkey Blocks Twitter

Turkey has blocked Twitter hours after embattled Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan threatened to close it down ahead of a key election. It comes after audio recordings purportedly demonstrating corruption among his associates were posted on the site.

Just before midnight, access to Twitter was blocked, Hurriyet Daily reports.

Perhaps they've not been paying attention to recent history.  "Leaders" don't usually last very long in today's world if they start screwing with the internet.

They are dangerous radical Islamists, who have been backed up by the US and EU. They all will fail.

The prime minister has also indicated he could block access to YouTube and Facebook after the local elections on March 30, although Abdullah Gul, Turkey
