Win 8.1 to Windows Server 2012 installation

Recommended Posts

I have an Asus MB11 and I need to install Win Server 2012 Essentials OEM on this box.  I keep running into a wall.  The Uefi keeps locking me out.  Upon installation of Win Server 2012 I keep getting the message.  Product Key failure there are no windows images to support this installation.  Please enter a new product key.  can someone help me with how to get win server installed.

I remember dealing with this when installing server 2012 on a Win 8 box. I believe I fixed it by adding a config file into the server ISO. I can't seem to find the files I used but this page should be helpful: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh824952.aspx

Maybe someone else here can help further.

Do a USB stick install (Use Rufus to build an UEFI based install), boot using EFI only option (Enable USB, disable legacy boot) and select the Windows Boot loader from the USB stick.

If you have the correct key for your installation media then there should be no need to fudge the EI.cfg (and will likely fail to activate online after installation).

We are talking about a genuine OEM installation, yes?

It boots to the media and installs the temporary files but it always says.  there is no key available based on the images on this system.
