kagaku
Stuff like this is what causes a site to be removed from my adblock whitelist. Very annoying! The first attachment shows the initial page load. The second one shows what happens if I try and hover over (or click) one of the latest forum post links. I click the link, but instead the advertisements slides down and too late, I've clicked it and it's opened a new window. I can sit and wait for about 10 seconds, the advertisement will then scroll back up and allow me to click on the forum posts.
neufuse Veteran Posted March 25, 2014 Veteran Share Posted March 25, 2014 yeah I've been getting very annoyed by it also, because it reserves space over the spy before it even expands so if you click there you go to the Epson page... been doing this for a couple weeks now.... techbeck
Thought it was not legal to complaint about ads on Neowin? You can talk about the ads, but just not ways to block them. That is frowned upon.
Brandon H Supervisor Posted March 25, 2014 Supervisor Share Posted March 25, 2014 if you see the ads like that again get the source code or at least the link it leads to. that'll help Steve get those ads removed as those expanding types i know for a fact are not supposed to show up zhangm 1 Share

Steven P. Administrators Posted March 26, 2014 Administrators Share Posted March 26, 2014 This won't affect anyone who is logged in because the ad is lower: You can login from the main page now as well (and you won't be redirected away from main either). kagaku
Half the time I'm checking the front page, I'm not logged in. As an existing user this frustrates me, if I were a new user I wouldn't bother coming back.
Ironman273
That's kinda weird. Why wouldn't you be logged in half the time?
kagaku
Multiple computers / tablets / locations. I don't save login information, and log out when done. Also, browsing from work where I don't login at all.
Sophism
I havent logged in the site in ages. Usually browsing as a guest. However for a while now I have been unable to browse recent posts and usually just moved on to a different site. Logging in I dont have this issue because the add is placed somewhere else. However as a guest the recent forum posts bit is completely unusable.

Alwaysonacoffebreak
That's kinda weird. Why wouldn't you be logged in half the time? I think the point is more in that people who don't have an account and are new will be bothered about this and might not come back if ads get too intrusive. Sophism
Why? Because it's lower than when you're logged in? :p No. When as a guest (at least for me) its impossible to click any of the links in the box because the ad seems to reserve space below it (even though you cant see the ad covering the box)
