So I'm looking to find an access point that supports a PROPER guest network (or multiple SSIDs that allow you to designate to its own VLAN so I can just make my own). That is really all the functionality I need out of this thing so I'm also looking for the cheapest device that supports this and isn't a nightmare to navigate. I went bold and capslocked on "proper" because I just finished setting up a ZyXEL WAP3205 which touts that it supports a "guest network". As it turns out it CONNECTS YOU TO THE SAME FREAKIN NETWORK! There?s just some other very minor restrictions that can applied to the guest network. Definitely no support for separating the traffic though which I why I bought the stupid thing. Ryster Posted March 25, 2014 Share Posted March 25, 2014 I just ordered three Linksys LAPN300 to cover my house...supports multiple SSIDs and VLANs, and look cool too. PoE powered also, which is a nice feature. I intend to have the same SSID on all three, leave channel on auto, and I'm assured this will give me full roaming ability. Best of all, found a supplier on Amazon selling them for ?22 each, they're over ?100 each elsewhere. http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00INRMVLS There's also a dual band version too, the LAPN600. Seems he is deploying more of them ;) I would love to deploy them in the house - but can just not come to pull the trigger since my current devices wrt54g and tp-link 3600 running tomato and dd-wrt provide more than enough coverage and features for my little house.
