With the Windows 8.1 & Windows Server 2012 R2 Update (01?) being made available on MSDN and TechNet today I was just curious to know if anyone had found any information on how it will be supported going forward by Microsoft. I looked on their Support Matrix to see if it had been updated to include Update1 but nothing on there. Essentially what I want to know is, do we need to get this deployed to all of our Windows Server 2012 R2 servers (thankfully not THAT many at this point - approx 20-30!) in order to continue to receive updates in the future? It doesn't seem especially clear and if there is information from Microsoft on this out there, I'm struggling to find it. Obviously it was always the case with Service Packs that Microsoft would stop releasing updates for non-service packed or installations running old service-packs and just want to see if it's the same with this Update. They share same kernel and build number. I have done everything posted on Neowin and Microsoft in how to deal with issues with this update and still the update quit after reaching 13%. The two updates have one difference (which is unique to Server 20102R2) - both sets are distributed the same way (either via WU or WSUS, depending on how updates are sent). On updates UNrelated to this update: On NEW installations of System Center 2012R2 with SQL Server 2014 as the database, you need to uninstall Microsoft WebDeploy (despite the retention of the 3.5 version number) due to a conflict between WebDeploy in SC 2012R2 and SQL Server 2014 - otherwise, installation of any component of System Center 2012R2 will fail. (I got bit by this when rebuilding my virtualization lab around SQL Server 2014 GM.) This only applies if SQL Server 2014 is installed first - it should not affect upgrade installs of SQL Server 2014. Why it is almost impossible to install KB2919355 on R2? I went to the Microsoft website and downloaded the one that is supposed to be for R2 and still failed. So, what is the other one if it's not the one I downloaded?
