David Thomas
The T100A doesn't look too bad, but it also only has a 1366x768 resolution. This trying two help out OP here on a tablet
TDT
Go for the G Pad, looks like a great price for a decent tablet. I was going to suggest a Xperia Z tab, ?100 extra but it's a 10 inch and you may see it drop in price somewhere since the Z2 is out soon. I would love that, but it's 500$ here... David Thomas
Guys, I think you're really missing something here. And that is the fact that I live in Romania. Here, a phone that is 100$ in the US gets to 300$. So I'm sorry, but this Walmart thing doesn't matter to me  I narrowed it down to those 2 tablets, there's no other option that I want/afford. So I ask you again, if you can please stick to those two, what can you recommend? Right now you can get a dell venue 8 pro for $249 its full window 8.1 and it comes with offices

+Frank B. Subscriber² Posted April 6, 2014 Subscriber² Share Posted April 6, 2014 Suggestion: Nexus 7 2013 edition. Yes, it's only 7"; but with HD screen and fairly beefy specs it should very well suit your needs. It comes at a very affordable price too.
TruckWEB
For Office use, I'd chose the Dell Venue Pro 8 or the Lenovo Miix 2 8. Both are 8" tablet, not that much smaller than the G Pad you're looking. Running full Windows 8.1 on a quad-core Intel CPU. So you can install any software you want. You get Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint). If you have the money, it would be better to select the 64Gb version. And you can add more storage with a MicroSD card. But.... It's running Windows... And the App store is not filled with games as much as what you can find on Android.

TruckWEB
Yes, like PC software... It's a full Windows 8.1, and yes, you can install Photoshop, Chrome, Flash if you want.
TDT
Yes, like PC software... It's a full Windows 8.1, and yes, you can install Photoshop, Chrome, Flash if you want. I see that there's only one USB port on this tablet...that's bad, because that's the charging port...so I can't charge it while using, let's say, a keyboard... Also, no hDMI port, only Miracast... Anyway, are you saying that this tablet is like a "small desktop", and I can install on it whatever software I install on my Windows PC? I only know about the VERY expensive version of Surface that lets you do that, you sure it's the same thing?
TruckWEB
Yes, the Venue Pro 8" and Miix 2 8" are both "small desktop" tablet that you can install whatever on them. A single USB port is what you're going to see on almost ALL tablet, even on Surface. Except that on Surface, it's a full size USB port. Get yourself a Bluetooth keyboard/mouse and that problem is solved. Get a USB host dongle and you will be able to connect USB Key or external HDD to your tablet : http://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-5in-Micro-Host-Adapter/dp/B00B4GGW5Q/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1396827370&sr=8-2&keywords=usb+host You can get a Miracast dongle or adapter for your TV : http://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-Push2TV-Wireless-Miracast-Certified/dp/B00904JILO/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1396827465&sr=8-2&keywords=miracast+hdmi

+virtorio MVC Posted April 7, 2014 MVC Share Posted April 7, 2014 Most modern tablets from reputable brands work fine. All I'd recommend is getting hold of whatever you're looking at first to make sure it feels good to you in terms of build quality and weight. I've got an old iPad 2 lying around and can't hold it the way I want because it's too heavy. You also don't want to buy something that'll make you think 'this feels like a cheap piece of junk' every time you pick it up.
TDT
One more question for you guys: what do you think about Asus VivoTab Smart? I got an offer to buy one of these, at about 250$.
PNWDweller
I just got a HP Slate 7 Extreme tablet which has a built in passive stylus. It has a 1.8ghz Quad Core Nvidia Tegra core in it and feels very nice in quality and abilities. The tablet is very fast, scored well in the 3dMark benchmark and is overall nice. It has a Mini HDMI port for the external ports aside from the headphone and micro usb. More specs here: http://www.shopping.hp.com/en_US/home-office/-/products/Tablets/Slate/F4C58UA?HP-Slate7-Extreme For a lower cost tablet, this really packs a mean punch in abilities for it's small size. :)

Darrian
The Vivo Tab looks pretty good. Again I'm going to ding on the low resolution, especially with it having a 10" screen, but you're probably not going to find a better resolution on a low-end Windows tablet. I think the Miix 2 has a 1080p screen, and it's only 8", but that's an exception. If you're looking for a Windows tablet now instead of an Android tablet you may want to hold off a bit, because with the recent announcement that Windows will be licensed to OEMs for free for 9" and below devices we're probably going to see devices with their current specs drop in price and devices with higher specs for the same price as the current ones. Yeah, I've noticed that too, but other than that resolution the specs are good, I think. I'm not necessarily looking for a Windows tablet, because I know that these are much more expensive (the ones that can run actual Windows software, like PCs), but if I have some options I take them into consideration. How much does that resolution matter? Is it noticeable, in video and other stuff? Like, huge pixels, or what?
