OneDrive woes - skydrive.exe crashes repeatedly

Recommended Posts

I did an early upgrade to Windows 8.1 Update 1 on my desktop and laptop using the MSDN/TechNet ISO. The laptop's upgrade went fine. My desktop, not so much.

The now-rebranded OneDrive process keeps crashing repeatedly - on top of that, I found two folders in my OneDrive that had incorrect permission settings (had to take ownership to fix). But despite that the process continues to crash.

What I've tried so far:

- go to gpedit.msc, disable OneNote file sharing, delete the folder on disk, delete %LOCALAPPDATA%\MIcrosoft\Windows\SkyDrive, re-enable sharing: OneDrive begins setting up, then crashes

- run skydrive.exe /reset per these instructions: still crashes

- reset the OneDrive folder back to its default (%USERPROFILE%\OneDrive) - it starts downloading files, but my Documents folder is completely empty. Then it crashes again.

Before I opt to wipe the install on my desktop and reinstall again, is there anything else I can try?
