NASA photo captures strange bright light coming out of Mars

622x350.jpg

A NASA camera on Mars has captured what appears to be artificial light emanating outward from the planet's surface.

The photo, beamed millions of miles from Mars to the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif., was taken last week, apparently by one of two NASA rovers on the red planet.

Although the space agency hasn't issued any official statement yet about the phenomenon, bloggers and NASA enthusiasts have started chiming in.

perhaps its a gas that is on fire.

or perhaps the aliens were tired of being in the dark and turned on the front porch lights.

An artificial light? Interesting, I can't wait to hear what they find. Would they send the rover over there now to inspect it, or would they stick with the original mission first and hope that the light doesn't disappear?

Could just simply be a bit of radioactive material.

this or possible meteor impact, lens flare or just distortion in the image itself.

from source

"This is not a glare from the sun, nor is it an artifact of the photo process."

How does he "know" this? Oh Nevermind... Scott C. Waring, who maintains the website UFO Sightings Daily  :|

Transformer?

Could be the Son of Jor-El? Jor-El sent him to the wrong planet.

Regardless whether it's "artificial" or not, we'll be told it's some natural phenomenon that the rover was lucky enough to spot. We (the general public) will never really know for sure what it is.

NASA has responded.

"In the thousands of images we've received from Curiosity, we see ones with bright spots nearly every week," said Justin Maki of NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena, Calif., leader of the team that built and operates the Navigation Camera. "These can be caused by cosmic-ray hits or sunlight glinting from rock surfaces, as the most likely explanations."
