StarkWiz
Hi Guys, I noticed that Microsoft has fixed double tap and drag issue as a part of Windows 8.1 Update 1 for Surface Pro 2. I just happened to try it, thinking what if they might have fixed it, in this update and it worked, feeling so great that the touch pad can be finally used same as others. Awesome!!! :D
tsupersonic
I haven't updated my SP2 to 8.1 U1, but I am not sure what you mean. I have a Type cover 2, and I can use the touchpad to select desktop icons and move them in one gesture.
StarkWiz
What gesture do you use ? Double tap and drag can be used for moving icons, window's scrollbar etc. without using left or right button. This feature wasn't working before, I have touch cover 2 and I think type cover 2 also had the same issue.
tsupersonic
Hmm, so I still haven't updated to 8.1U1. Here's how you would move a desktop icon with a normal mouse: 1) Move mouse pointer to icon 2) Left click on mouse and drag icon to desired location Here's how you accomplish this on the SP2 w/ Type Cover 2: 1) Move mouse pointer to icon using touchpad 2) Left click (left button area on touchpad) and drag icon to desired location The same applies for scrollbars. With touchpads (on normal laptops), if you double tap something either using the touchpad area or the left click buttons in a succession, it either opens the program or folder (in desktop mode). Not sure how you would double tap an icon in succession to move the icon. It makes more sense (to me) that a program/folder should open when I double tap an icon on the desktop. Most laptops (that is to say, every laptop I've used in recent memory) have an option (almost always enabled by default) that when you double-tap (and not release) it begins a drag operation that completes as soon as you let go of the track-pad. This basic feature wasn't working in Surface Pro 2 which is now fixed in Windows 8.1 Update 1. Pressing the trackpad buttons on the touch cover is quite difficult.
