Nokia Lumia 630 to cost only

Recommended Posts

The Nokia Lumia 630 is expected to be Nokia?s cheapest handset in 2014, and Pocket-lint report that, at least in UK, it will be hitting just the right numbers.

The Windows Phone 8.1 handset is expected to hit UK in May for ?100 (?119) while the LTE-equipped Nokia Lumia 635 will cost ?125 (?149).

Not a bad price, I was thinking of picking up the Moto G for my dad. Not sure if I should hold out for this now.

thats a really good price for such a well rounded phone, i was looking to pickup a cheap windows phone to test app viability etc.. might have to grab one of these.

Cheaper than I thought and good news considering it has no flash, NFC and stuck with 512MB of RAM. It would feel like a step back if it cost any more. I guess a 730 will be the new mid tier Lumia rather than this one which is a step below but still above a Nokia 520 and it's successor.

Not to totally go off topic here, however unless you really want Windows Mobile I think the Moto G is by far the better phone in the ?100 price range, especially if the screen and camera is important to your Dad. However if masses of storage is required then the Lumia 630 might be the better choice as it can take a Micro SD card.

Moto G:

1280x720 Screen (326 ppi pixel density)

Flash on Camera

Front Camera (Useful for Skype)

2070 mAh battery

1gb ram

No Micro SD card

Lumia 630:

854 x 480 Screen (218 ppi pixel density)

No Flash on Camera

No Front Camera

1830 mAh battery

512mb ram

Takes Micro SD card

I recently got my Mum the Moto G and she loves it. The battery life is really good, she want from Friday Afternoon to Monday morning without having to charge it. That's with 3 hours of screen on time and Wi-Fi / 3g on all weekend. The only thing i will say against it is the camera is not the best ever, however more than acceptable for Facebook / taking a quick photo.

I see the 5x0 and the 63x as the low end with the 600s having a bigger screen compared to the 500s.  So yeah, the 730/830 will be the new mid-range devices, but I expect their prices to also come down as well.
