PlayStation dominated the MCV Awards 2014, collecting eight prizes including the prestigious Grand Prix.

Sony was hailed for its launch of PS4, The Last of Us and its push of the PlayStation Network at retail. It also won Digital Strategy, UK Sales Team, Marketing Team, Events Team, PR Team and Trade Marketing Team.

And when accepting the award for the Grand Prix, UK PlayStation boss Fergal Gara said: "I've had a lot of great nights recently, but this one might just top them all."

Yet it was Ubisoft that was named games publisher of the year, for its strong relationship with both retail and the platform holders. Ubisoft's boss Rob Cooper declared: "Good things come to those who wait."

Sony may have scooped eight awards, but there was still a huge number of firms that picked up prizes overall ? 15 in total. This included Rockstar and Take-Two, which took home three awards for the success of GTA V ? including Game Campaign, Sales Triumph and Games Studio.

GAME?s resurgence continued in 2013, and the firm won the games specialist prize. The retailer beat fierce competition to win the community engagement award for its events and social media activity.

Specialist retailer is such a joke lol. Winner by default more like.

Ironic that Disney Infinity won "New Game Brand" considering the news has been dormant on it until this week with Marvel characters being added. The hype/expectation of it was DoA by release.

Loading Bar is awesome; sure I watched a video about them recently. Might have been a MH3U tournament held there or something, but it's a bar with gaming IIRC (Y) Need more places like that in UK.

GG to Sony on the PR front though. Their hard work certainly paid off the past year.

Hey, regardless of the value of the award, it creates great word of mouth, so that's always a win.

Oh and a bar with gaming in it? I wish we had those in the US near me

I use to run a lan center and the idea had been tossed around to turn it into a lounge of sorts with a bar. Pity that never came about. About the closest thing to that around here is Dave & Busters which combines a restaurant and gaming.
