I am looking for a fun racer for the PS3. Not a sim like Gran Turismo. I have Need for Speed Most Wanted (2012) and while I enjoy the arcade style I find it quite frustrating in that the tracks are quite hard to navigate. What I mean by that is it is hard to see the corners. Not sure if it is just me or if others have the same problem.

Anyway so I was looking at some other Need for Speed games such as Hot Pursuit which does not seem to suffer from the above issue. Just wondered if there are any other good arcade racers out there?

Update: Looks like Need for Speed Hot Pursuit is the kind of game I am after, is only a few pounds so might just pick up a copy from CeX when I pop out later.

Offroad Racers: MotorStorm, Fuel, Pure, WRC & Dirt

Road: Ridge Racer, Daytona USA, Juiced, Need for Speed: Underground & GRID.

Other: Burnout Paradise, Destruction Derby, Modnation Racer, Blur, Driver: San Francisco, Crazy Taxi, Twisted Metal, Split/Second, Wheelman and Full Auto.

Some games to check out, the offroad sims have a different feel to them compared with say something like Gran Turismo so you could try out a demo to check them out.

The others are all Arcade games including 'Daytona USA' which is one of the best known arcade games.

The other section is racing games that have other scoring systems; for example Burnout has a mode where you just have to ram into things to create the most damage, Destruction Derby has modes you drive around and try to destroy the other players vehicles, Driver is a mix of GTA and racing, Crazy Taxi you have to be a taxi and pick up people while you race against the clock to reach a destination, Wheelman you perform stunts in a car, etc.

But if on-the-road arcade style is what your after I'd also look into Ridge Racer series, Juiced, and maybe other NFS titles like Underground.

The 2010 NFS Hot Pursuit is hands down one of the finest action racers of the last decade, was about to suggest it but you beat me to it. It's an amazing game, lots of fun, great visuals, great handling, superb soundtrack. Stay the hell away from Rivals, IMO it's a terrible effort - cars handle like tanks intentionally, as the whole game seems to be just a big demo for their fancy particle effects, so you're supposed to crash all the time!

I picked up a copy of Hot Pursuit (Y) Had a couple of races and it plays just how I wanted so I am happy

Only annoying thing with it being pre-owned is that the online pass code is already used :( I guess if I really want to play online then I can either buy a pass or pick up a new copy of the game for cheap on Amazon for the code (and return this pre-owned copy to CeX).

The online was good and fun, but that was almost four years ago now...not sure if the community is even that active anymore. I'd say stick with SP, it's lengthy and has a lot of variety to it, plus lots of cars. Glad you're having a good time with it!
