galaxys3 Need a battery charger/battery case

Hey all,

So I have a Galaxy S3 and my usb port on the phone is semi broken and it makes the phone very difficult to charge. I was trying to find some solutions via a new case or charger but there are a lot of options.

 

Could someone recommend a good battery case? I don't want a really big one, I really just need to be able to charge it via some other port other than the phone's usb.

 

I was also thinking about just taking the battery out at night and buying something that would allow me to just charge the battery. I have seen a device once that allowed anyone to hook up different size batteries to charge, but I can't find it when searching online.

 

Any suggestions?

If you are good with solder, or know someone who is, you can just buy a replacement USB port for your phone.  There are youtube vids showing how.

Even if you have to pay someone to do it, probably be cheaper and less hassel.

I soldered capacitors on motherboards without a problem. Would that take enough skill to do this? I don't know anything about the specifics of soldering guns, could you suggest one?

If you have done it before, just watch the videos and see if it is something you would like to try.   I dont know your skill/confidence level.  I know little about soldering and last time I tried, well...it looked a mess . Perhaps someone else here knows more?  Shouldnt be to expensive.  I have payed to have things soldered before and wasnt that expensive.  Of course, I took apart the device myself and all that had to do was remove the old and put on the new.

The duracell powermat case that you linked to is exactly what my Brother in law did to resolve this exact issue with his phone. The port on the phone is very easily damaged so he did this to resolve his issue.

I'd say a new phone will be cheaper in the long run
