Weird thing about Windows 8.1 Update installation

Recommended Posts

Ok so apparently I downloaded KB219355 from the Mircosoft Download Center because Windows Update was too slow (stuck at 4%). After that I tried to install it but after 10 minutes it wasn't done so I cancelled via Task Manager. Then, I restarted it and guess what? When I logged in, all the new features were there. Serious. And when I checked to see whether it was really installed, Windows Update said update failed but while the update installer that I downloaded said that I had indeed installed even though I cancelled. I would like to know what in the world is going.

PS: Actually I don't think I should be that curious but nevermind.

This update has been the most nasty one I ever see from Microsoft. I have been trying for days to install on my server 2012 R2 and still quit at 13% while installing. I have done everything suggested in Neowin and Microsoft and nothing seen to work in my case. I am now trying to install manually and see if that make it a difference.

after the few failures and the dism /online /remove-package /packagename:Package_for_KB2919355~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.3.1.14

and them dism /online /cleanup-image /startcomponentcleanup, I did a restart and then trying again install KB2919355 and still I got only up to 13% updating the system and then quit with the following message:

There is not hope at least from my system to get this update... I have been trying every fix or suggestion I read on Neowin and Microsoft.

This has been a very strange update... I installed it from a clean install using the MSDN image with the update baked in. I keep being told to install the update via Windows Update and it doesn't seem to stick...
