Video Editing

Question

I have never messed with video editing.  I have a 5 minute 1080p video from a drone of the area in Fiji we are building a plant.  I want to upload a small segment, but dont know how to "chop" off a small part.

I use VLC to view, does this have that ability ?

Thanks.

I would say try something like Windows Movie Maker, its free and pretty simple to work out.

I don't know about VLC being able to do anything like this

Have you tried Windows Movie Maker? If it doesn't immediately crash opening the 1080p file, it should be fine. If not, VirtualDub is free and easy to use for that purpose.

I did, thanks.  As soon as I posted a small snipet from the video, I had my ass chewed out for putting it online (even though it was private) - so all for nothing. :/
