Alien found in Russia, in 2011 ?

Does nobody understand the difference between a scientific Theory and the traditional word 'theory'? Honestly, it is depressing how many people think that the Theory of Evolution by Natural Selection is equally as valid as whatever speculation you wish to make about any topic you like. It's quite simple. Theory, in scientific terms, describes an explanation within nature which has been confirmed through experimentation and the scientific method. From Wikipedia: Such theories are described in such a way that any scientist in the field is in a position to understand and either provide empirical support ("verify") or empirically contradict ("falsify") it. Scientific theories are the most reliable, rigorous, and comprehensive form of scientific knowledge, in contrast to more common uses of the word "theory" that imply that something is unproven or speculative (which is better defined by the word 'hypothesis'). Scientific theories are distinguished from hypotheses, which are individual empirically testable conjectures, and scientific laws, which are descriptive accounts of how nature will behave under certain conditions.

So what some people in this thread are defining as theory (such as the existence of a divine creator) is not anywhere remotely close to being as conclusive as a theory. It doesn't even meet the definition of a hypothesis, as a hypothesis must at least use rational thought as well as use general principles that are independent of of the thing being explained. In this case, a divine creator is akin to the belief that the Earth is flat and that the Earth is 1000 years old - it flagrantly ignores all known facts and ignores multitudes of evidence while providing no evidence itself that cannot be debunked by a child. To compare the existence of a creator to the Theory of Evolution by Natural Selection is like comparing the existence of the Santa to the existence of parents who buy their children gifts, and siding with Santa.

I wonder what would be more of a surprise.

1. Aliens landing in ??????.

2. Hum not being the creator of this topic.

I think i'll vote for the 2nd choice XD

Earth people travel thousands of miles in cars and planes -- they don't always end up alive.

Why would Aliens always 'drive' perfectly and never have accidents ?

Would the pilots never have a physical body breakdown while at the controls ?

Would Alien craft always evade a greedy Military, hungry for more technology, and not be shot down ?

Anything unexpected could happen to an alien body, once it left the safety of their craft.

Who knows what obstacles and dangers are in Space, and how many Aliens have died out there on the way to Earth.

yeah I mean its not like they had to travel light years to get here, No they just drove down the road in their corvette

Bible! God created us, and placed us here, so theres no other life or other planet.

You forgot the /s @ the end denoting sarcasm was intended.  Because there is NO way you are serious.

Scientists got bored... AGAIN.

In space there is no gravity, and most realistic thinking people know that when you're not using certain limbs for a while, those muscles would go numb  and through years of evolution those limbs would probably stop to exist.

* Look at what sometimes happens, when a person becomes injured due to a car crash... they need to learn how to walk all over again.

And these injuries are usually only temporary, so you can probably imagine what kind of an impact it would have on your muscles when you're born on a planet without gravity.

--> So no, aliens would probably have NO LEGS at all, because without gravity you don't need to walk.

So who are they trying to make fun of here?

I really don't understand why those scientists always stick to their silly 'aliens with legs theory', if they want to sound realistic... they should at least come up with a better story.

It's a common fact scientists see themselves at know-it-alls, because they studied stupid books for too long... this is just another proof of that.

---------------------

- Please, let them take a shuffle or something, and do some gardening for their money or nurse our elderly people.

(instead of earning big salaries with this stupid nonsense)

At least they would do something useful for a change...

Uhhhmmmm   WTF ?!?

There is no gravity in space ?  Well not, until you get near a large enough object - then you can feel it.  And its assumed aliens would be bound to a planet at some time.  Surely you dont think earth is special and is the only thing that has gravity ??   What holds earth in its place ?   The gravity of the sun, you know - that bright thing up in the sky ?   That isnt god's flashlight.

I shake my head in disbelief in many posts - and know when one is just being funny or sarcastic, but its apparent you really believe what you posted.  And that is just mind-boggling.

Your "no such thing as mass, no legs theory" needs to be re-evaluated by someone more capable.

At least you believe in evolution....

Nothing to fear here - just the consequences of excessive vodka consumption.

The laws of physics indicate that the distances between stars, galaxies and solar systems are so vast that even if life forms exist elsewhere, it is impossible for them to travel here and for us to travel there.

Probably just as well, for our sake and for theirs.

I have no issue believing in (a) God, evolution and Aliens all at the same time. Probably because I'm not retarded. This is not to say you are retarded if you don't believe in all 3, just that you are if you don't believe in one because you believe in the other.

I understand the "God" depicted in The Story Bible makes believing evolution and Aliens stupid. Don't believe a Book written by Romans to dictate what you believe. It'll make everything naturally fall into place. It also makes a lot more sense when you stop believing in nonsense.

It's insane how devoted religious people can't make decisions until another person says, "Oh, no, this is what this book meant, now you can do this". How brainless can you possibly be? How do you even walk?

....Although if you don't at least believe in evolution, well... Let's just say, we wouldn't hang out.

As for the Alien in the picture: Meh, maybe.

Bend it, work around it. Nothing is impossible.

To be accurate, the laws of physics, as we currently understand them, make it extremely unlikely but not impossible.

We don't know near enough to flat out say it's impossible.

It would make much more sense to send unmanned probes to distant galaxies or communicate via radio signals than send members of your species hurdling across space for who knows how long.

If aliens did choose the most difficult method of travel they wouldn't turn up, draw some crop circles or help our ancestors built a few pyramids and then leave.
