One drive question with windows 8.1

Recommended Posts

So I have a question about one drive.  I know when it was skydrive there was a thing where they monitored who uploads what and you can get your account deleted.

On this page.  http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-live/code-of-conduct

It states:

Prohibited Uses

You will not upload, post, transmit, transfer, distribute or facilitate distribution of any content (including text, images, sound, video, data, information or software) or otherwise use the service in a way that:

  • depicts nudity of any sort including full or partial human nudity or nudity in non-human forms such as cartoons, fantasy art or manga.

Well,  I have done some photography that has nudity in it.  Will they deleted/suspend my account as they have done with some people in the past?   What if I would use 7zip the folder, password protect and encrypt it?

It depends .. i think.  I remember seeing similar posts in the past and it seems like it was very hit or miss.  I think you should be ok by zipping/passwording as long as it is nothing illegal.

Yeah nothing illegal.  Just actual pictures of mine.

I think so long as you do not do anything that will bring attention to you then you will not have any issue. Most of the stuff that gets removed is due to hash checks. they do not have someone sitting there sifting through everyones skydrive / onedrive.

There are additional checks that attempt to scan the image and dynamically detect prohibited features, like nudity. So although there isn't a person per say there is a set of digital eyes scanning. I have no idea how "sensitive" the digital eyes are and I assume any final action passes a person eyes first.

Uploading your files as a encrypted zip or rar file is fine on their servers. Just as others have said, don't put anything illegal there.

I hope MS changes this. This is the modern era, people want access to their erotica across all platforms.
