Microsoft to launch Xbox One in Japan on Sept. 4

Microsoft plans to launch its Xbox One console in 26 new markets in September, and now Japan, one of the most important markets in the gaming industry, has a specific launch date for the console: Sept. 4.

The news was revealed by Microsoft's Japanese branch, which also revealed a list of 48 Japanese developers registered to make games for the console. In a statement to Polygon, Microsoft stated the additional 25 markets slated for September launches may not occur on the same day.

Microsoft didn't provide any pricing information for the console, though it will likely be similar to its U.S. price of $499.

While a list of launch titles wasn't revealed, Microsoft did reveal a list of titles that are scheduled to be released in the country at some point. Notable games slated for Japanese release include "Titanfall," "Dead Rising 3," "Call of Duty: Ghosts" and "Forza Motorsport 5." Additionally, well-known exclusive Xbox One games that haven't yet been released will receive Japanese launches, including the next Halo game, "Sunset Overdrive" and "Quantum Break."

In March, Microsoft's Phil Spencer, head of Xbox, told Famitsu that a "unique" exclusive game would be released by a Japanese developer in its homeland.
