Win8.1: Cannot uncheck "Connect Automatically"

A friend called with this one and I used TeamViewer to check it out.  The list of available networks on her machine are all checked with "Connect Automatically"  They weren't a week ago, but her boyfriend "did something" (yea, I know... like that helps) and now all networks, including hers are shown this way.  She can connect to her network, but now not her printer.  He user is an Administrator.  I got out of tech support a long, long time ago and I have not been able to find an answer via Google so....  any help?

Have you tried System Restore yet? Not that it's particularly graceful, but "did something" might mean that other changes were made that might be preferable to revert as well.

The first link mentions "right-click on the network you want to forget", I used TeamViewer and attempted to do this, but on Win 8,1 that has no effect.  Thanks though.   I'll tell her to think about doing a Restore, but still this is very odd.
