Unused/orphaned App Passwords any security risk?

Recommended Posts

First the App Password I'm referring to is the one from the Microsoft Account:

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-GB/windows/app-passwords-two-step-verification

Unused/orphaned means for example if I wipe and re-setup my tablet and when I setup Hotmail again I will need to create a new App Password and the old App Password used before wipe is unused/orphaned.

What happens to these unused/orphaned App Passwords?

Does Microsoft clean out unused/orphaned App Passwords?

Or are they left to accumulate?

Is it possible for these unused/orphaned App Passwords to be used by some hacker to access my Hotmail account?
