Well there goes flickr.

Yeah, Yahoo isn't getting my details just so their lax security can pass them on to every spammer on the planet.

What's a good alternative?

I think yahoo is just trying everything they can to bring back business because a lot of people keep forgetting they exist.

Create an alternative username for Flickr...  like Guppy and I did.

No worries about email or junk. No need to touch their email client.

Write down your new login and place it in safe place.

ummm, I don't see the problem here ?

it's just a Yahoo account, technically even when you signed in with FB and Google it was still a yahoo account, you don't need a yahoo email address. I have a yahoo account I use for flickr but the mail is still my google account, also known as my spam account.

I don't really like mixing accounts like flickr and FB/google anyway.

Meh, personally I want nothing to do with Flickr now and have dumped it completely. I never really wanted anything to do with Flickr anyways after Yahoo got their dirty little mits on it. 500px on the other hand, is looking pretty good! :D

Because it is. Ever used it? It's almost like using ICQ or AOL messenger, plus....dat spam! Just sayin', YMMV.

Thisismyflickraccount@yahoo.com.

There. Yahoo is entitled to try and make a buck off of Flickr users. That's why they bought it out and support it. They're not giving away 1TB of storage for giggles and rainbows.

I did that originally, created a random email for use with Flickr only. Don't use it for anything else and never check it so the spam isn't even an issue.

If you really want to go somewhere else that isn't Flickr, looking at the options 500px is probably your best bet.

Funny people think their Google account is more secure than Yahoo's?

I had Flickr back when it was Yahoo and never linked it to Google

Yahoo has had what some describe as the biggest data breach in the history of the Internet in their trophy cabinet.  Google has had what?  One Gmail breach, and few small ones here or there?

I think people beleive Google is not secure, purely because of the massive amount of scaremongering by people who seem hell bent on thinking that they can remain anonymous on the Internet.

Make that frequent small ones all the time.

Where and when?

everywhere all the time.

Subscription cancelled

Why would you cancel a sub to the best online photo storage and display service because you have to make an account with them _ you already effectively have an account with them, you just can\t log into that account with FB or Google anymore, which never made sense in the first place. It doesn't change anything about the service. it just makes you aware of the fact you do actually have a flickr/yahoo account.
