Clearly for many of the games it's not an issue of compatibility as many of the games work in other regions, it all comes down to licensing. It's infuriating but ultimately probably out of Sony's control. Same story with the Wii U / Wii and 3DS. It's not even smooth sailing when it comes to XBL/PSN when you see arcade games being removed because the deals expire. Some work around it with new soundtracks others would prefer not to release at all or take the games down.

 

For me, I bought a Vita purely as an indie portable so I'm not effected, but I can understand many people being disappointed by it. I wouldn't recommend anyone buying one for PS1 classics or even PS Vita exclusives as they're pretty sparse outside of the RPG genre.

 

Sony really need to up the ante on the console. Apparently it was the talk of the show at PAX and lots of indies are flocking to it. If they capitalised on that hype it could have a bright future still.
