Restarted iPad, everything is gone

Recommended Posts

I restarted my iPad this morning, everything is gone. Strange thing is, Cydia and the tweaks are still installed. I opened up iFile and it's showing my application data is still there along with movies and what not. Opened Cydia and it's showing that no tweaks are installed.

I haven't installed anything in a few months from Cydia, nor updated any tweaks in a few weeks, so I have no clue what is going on.

I'm currently away from my personal computer for the day, maybe someone can suggest a way to solve this issue.

Well... I had a similar issue with my iphone... but as far as I saw I only lost the contacts, they just disappeared while I was using the phone, I rebooted it and still nothing (I don't have music or anything so didn't realize if this affected this).

I fixed it by going to the iCloud options, it was off (no idea why because I didn't turned it off), as soon as I turned it on and logged the contacts were back.

Yeah, that didn't work. Thank you though.

You restarted it wrong.

Sorry, couldn't resist -- though I did try. :)

Are you unable to restore it from iCloud/iTunes?

A sync with iTunes will probably fix it. Sounds like there's an issue with the iPads content libraries.

Jailbroken, possible non iTunes store app has caused a corruption.  As long as you have synced and backed-up to your desktop then you can do a restore from there.  Not sure you will be able to do anything OTA.

Not if you are restoring a backup, either way you choose if you want to upgrade or not

Thank you. I'll try it when I get home. Just strange after a restart everything disappeared.

Just an update: restoring a backup on a jailbroken device is impossible, which causes you to update to the newest version.

Thank you neowin, so much for a tech forum, lol.

Not anyone's fault here you didn't have a good backup method worked out before hand. You took the risk in jail breaking your phone.

Sometimes restoring from backup has worked with some jailbreaks and versions of iOS. Sometimes it won't work at all, and the only way for a proper restore is to set the device in DFU mode. Sorry you lost your jailbreak, but worse things could happen. Hope you understand how important backups and knowing how to restore from a backups are. Is your computer backed up at all :shifty:?

If I saw this thread sooner, would have recommended iLex R.A.T or Semi Restore. Either would have restored your device on current firmware with jailbreak intact and you could have just restored your backup via iTunes and be on your way.
