Given the graphical fidelity still being shown off (environments especially), I'm going to bet even if another year in the oven it'll still be 30FPS (or 30 unlocked). I couldn't see any cardboard trees, so no 60FPS :p

Looks very nice. I hope that the extra time they needed pays off for them. I was considering picking up a 2nd PS4 at the end of the year with Killzone so looks like this jumps on to my wishlist.

The game is looking good. Another nice 1080p/30 release. It and infamous show what can be done without worrying about hitting all the numbers.

Its pretty crazy to think how the team was able to pull off those visuals and at the same time not skimp on the environment.

Looks very good, though a little too much like NFS Rivals for my liking. Will get it for sure, and for the record i like Forza 5 very much. The trees and cut out people don't bother me so much, it's the somewhat abominable lack of AA in the top half of the screen that gets to me. Weather and daytime are nice touches, but not critical for me. I love Forza's damage modeling, hope Driveclub has it too.

I still don't like the physics (IMO in the trailer a car moves from point A to B in kind of a direct and sudden way) but i will wait for the full race vides they mentioned.

Also if the 30 fps is final then it is disappointing, although my personal preference would be FHD and actual next gen graphics like no 4D trees or any of the other unacceptable things still seen in modern racing games.

To conclude i think a company behind the Motorstorm series can not provide THE racing game but they are trying their best. We'll see if their best is good enough.

Hahahaha i see those trees from Forza really annoyed people! Should be retitled Forza 5: The Happening

People can't be talking about GT? Crappy environments in racing games have always annoyed people, feeling it's somehow tied to Forza only is  :s

Going to wait to see the handling in this game. I wasn't too impressed with the focus of sliding/drifting in earlier gameplay trailers.

It does look pretty though.

Calm down sunshine, haven't played GT6 and haven't heard much complaints about it. Relax.

Wait, we have 4D trees now?

But seriously I hate them too, all too often I'm like 'man I'm bored racing, I wanna just stop the car and inspect the roadside foliage for a while' and then I'm like 'DAM FU MS XBONE VRAM, AHHHHHHHHHHH RAGE' when I see them 4D trees! ;)

Truly unacceptable for this day and age, truly.

(BTW I mean this to be funny, not having a dig, I know its a tiny mistake in your wording but I thought the rampant response would show the obvious humour intended to mock not you but the masses who flock to this conclusion like its biblical in nature).

Looks like it'll be graphics > FPS, especially with no pre-baked lighting.

Speaking with VG247 as part of our new Driveclub interview, Rustchynsky said, ?[striving for 60FPS] was something that we stated as an early target to ourselves.

?As we?ve got more familiar with the hardware, and also, looking at what we wanted from the game, we decided that 1080p, 30 frames per second is absolutely the best thing, because what that allows us to do is to deliver the most detailed cars in-race that you will ever have seen.

?It?s allowed us to create some of the biggest tracks you will ever see in a racing game, with the most visually-dense environments, as well as a full global illumination system which allows us to make time of day, where shadows are cast, full-on reflections. It?s allowed us to push all those various areas.?

Rustchynsky added that Sucker Punch?s PS4 debut inFamous: Second Son looked gorgeous thanks to various techniques and mechanics made possible by keeping the game running at 30FPS.

GT7 will obviously go for 60FPS, but the real test for Kaz will be can he do scenery to rival DriveClub and still hit 60FPS (or will those 2D trees be back....).

So the real test will be if racing fans are ok with that. Maybe it will come down to more casual racing fans being ok with it more than the hardcore, especially sim racing fans.

Precisely, but they'll be disappointed anyway as this isn't a full on sim racer. At least nowhere near GT levels. They originally pipped it to be their (evolution studios) first real whack at simulation versus the offroad Motorstorm, but it's clearly ended up a hybrid of the two styles (arcade/sim) from all the trailers and the way they're talking (we want graphics priority).

A locked and consistent 30fps is nothing to grumble about. Its when it either dips or goes above 30 that the human eye notices it.

It looks utterly stunning so locked 30 with glorious 1080p is perfectly fine with me.

Reading some of the comments on the EU blog are bordering on crazy. People complaining its not 60fps so not buying it

Like I have said elsewhere, this stuff means more to people than it use to, to the point of obsessing over it and taking it too far. Thankfully, not everyone is like that and can look beyond a number and see if the game is actually good.

Heh heh no not at all, I take it there was some serious backlash over trees? Am a huge graphics guy, but come on, really, the trees? I'd worry more about aliasing, which seems to be a constant problem in racing games especially. Fences in Forza 5 can be painful, as are road markings on many occasions.

Personally can barely tell the difference between 60 and 30, very comfortable with the latter. Faster is better, but not a must. Will take effects and cleaner graphics over frame rate. It's good this has become a thorny issue because it means people expect more, which is great. But if it turns them into vicious trolls that refuse to enjoy games because of lower than 60fps...well that's just silly.
