Inspired by a screenshot on the 'Why Linux is better' website from macstar's sig I decided to see if Window Maker is still in the Fedora repos.

As you can see it still is, and still looks pretty much like it did in 1998.

wow that looks bad, probably driver related, what settings can you use in system-settings? for me it offers me opengl 1, 2 and 3.1 but i can only use 2 while i can use 3.1 in kubuntu. ever tried to change the settings there?

It's inspired by NeXTSTEP/OpenStep:

- the UNIX system which Apple bought when they acquired NeXT in Dec 1996, and which later evolved into Mac OS X.

Oh yeah, as a bonus Apple got Steve Jobs back by acquiring NeXT.

Replaced the "Seagate, set sail for fail" HDD for an Intel 100GB SSD and installed Xubuntu 14.04 LTS x64:

Very happy with Xubuntu as my laptop is a nightmare to get a working kernel / PWM / ATi ~ 1080p via DVI -> HDMI -> 5.1 Receiver / Bluetooth / WiFi

Decided to set up XFCE on my SEGA Master System II (Raspberry Pi + Retro Pie) as a backup environment should something happen to the laptop again:

I've also updated the theme on my HP laptop & worked out a nice XFCE based ATi power management menu:
