Are you based in the EU and want to write for Neowin?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

As you may notice, the GMT morning hours remain a problem area for us to get news out because most of our active writers are based in North America. We had a good run for a while with a couple of writers that could submit consistently in the mornings, but for various reasons they are no longer able to do so.

We are not actively looking for more US coverage as that is pretty much OK, what we do need are EU writers that can submit in those morning hours, preferably on a daily basis, but a minimum of four articles a week is also OK (the more the better).

You can apply here https://www.neowin.net/contact/apply you must be 18 or over, this is a legal thing and is requested of us by our shareholder Stardock which handles the news payments.

We are not looking for freelancers (we can't pay the rates) and we are also not looking for people who have zero experience writing about tech news, or cross posters from other tech blogs. We also do not accept "guest/sponsored" posts.

Maybe you have contributed to the Member reviews for members forum a few times and feel like you could turn that around to start earning on the front page, again all the details are here https://www.neowin.net/contact/apply and serious applicants will be contacted in due course.

Thanks.

Well I guess I mean if you think you can do as good or better than what's posted to the news site already, then you'll be OK. News posting requires research, turning a press release around into a story and ensuring relevant info is linked to from previous articles, if this is too much like hard work then you need not apply :P For example we expect a news item to be turned around and ready for publishing within the hour, only exceptions are developing stories which can be added to/edited.

Most of our posters had no prior experience, but were able to submit a good application based on the requirements, it helps if you already run  your own personal blog etc..

Want to add thick skin, every time EU fines X american company, it generates the "EU money grab" argument. I actually applaud the EU stands up for consumer rights, which are weak in the United States in comparison.

Why not provide a couple press releases and a word count that you can use as a trial submission? I am London based and would be happy to give it a shot ;)

I remember applying for this position and being accepted but was unfortunately couldn't start due to the circumstances.

The thing is, I can write an article or two every week but I don't understand cross posting as I read other blogs and get the news.

Anyway, I may apply again and see how this goes. Four articles a week doesn't sound too much and I surely have time.

The thing is, I still have a copy of the e-mail from Michael saying I can contact if I am available, though it is dated from '08. Can I submit the same writing again?

Cheers!

I am really looking forward to reading European slang in the articles. :p

Bloody hell. I dunno wot you mean m8. I gather you mean english? Perhaps David Cameron looking like a pillock or how daft is Angela Merkel gallivanting with the whole EU down the drain drama. It's all bollocks, in my opinion. But that would be jolly for you, innit bruv?

I wouldn't be against this format.
