Modern apps scroll behavior changed

Recommended Posts

I noticed that all of a sudden the way scrolling in Modern UI works has changed.

I would use a two finger swipe (top to bottom) to move through the Modern UI, regardless if the content is actually scrolling horizontally (ie. left to right like the App List), or if the content is actually scrolling top to bottom as well (like the chats in Skype).

A few days ago I noticed this changed. Now I have to actually do a left to right two-finger swipe to move through the Modern UI content, regardless if it's actually laid out that way (the App List requires this behavior, which sort of makes sense, but it's super annoying in Skype because it feel more natural to swipe from top to bottom there).

I installed the latest Elantech drivers when recently reinstalling the OS (Windows 8.1), but I can't seem to find the multi touch settings tool. And I'm certain it behaved differently in the beginning (top to bottom swipe to scroll both horizontally and vertically) and that this is a recent change.

I've experienced that before. Although I use ASUS Smart Gesture. Much better for Windows 8 than the Elantech drivers were.

I'd say it's the opposite here. I googled a bit and some users recommended a newer version of the drivers, but intended for Samsung laptops, and I can say it does seem to be smoother. But I mostly use a mouse on the laptop anyway, just glad I fixed the scrolling issue since I have no horizontal scroll on the mouse and I can scroll in Modern UI again with it.

I haven't used the Elantech drivers for quite awhile now so not too sure what they offer for Windows 8,

but the ASUS Smart Gesture does every function that you'd normally do on a touchscreen with your fingers.

2 finger scroll for up/down or side to side, 3 finger back and forth for webpages and folders, 3 fingers down for minimize all, 3 fingers up for running programs,

1 finger swipe up for app menu, down for other functions, swipe from right for right sidebar, swipe from left side to cycle threw win 8 apps running,

full pinch and zoom functions, and 2 finger rotate functions.

Definitely can't do all that with a mouse, lol.
