Mockingbird
I have three difference PCs with Windows 7. After installing updates from Windows Update, the next boot up seems to hang on a black screen (the screen is blank, no cursor, or anything else) for ~10 minutes before finally showing the "Configuring Windows updates. Do not turn off your computer." screen. I went to msconfig and enabled "OS boot information" and tried again. Now, instead of being stuck on a blank screen for ~10 minutes, I am stuck on a black screen with this text for ~10 minutes: "Microsoft ® Windows ® Version 6.1 (Build 7601: Service Pack 1) 8 System Processors [8107 MB Memory] MultiProcessor Kernel" I am not sure what the problem is. Anyone have any insight?

goretsky Supervisor Posted May 11, 2014 Supervisor Share Posted May 11, 2014 Hello, Have you tried temporarily uninstalling any security software on the computer before performing a Windows Update to see if that makes any difference? Be sure to download the latest version and have it ready for (re)installation after Windows Update has finished. Regards, Aryeh Goretsky

Looks like this can cause this prob Is it connected to something else like a TV / monitor? If you're using more than one video connection / monitor I cannot bring up the task manager because Windows actually hasn't finished booting yet so it's not at all similar to that. I had IObit Advanced SystemCare installed on one of the computer, but uninstalled it long time ago. The other two has never had it installed. The monitors are correct directly connected to the first DVI. Unfortunately, I've just installed the updates on all three computers. It looks like I am going to have to wait until Patch Tuesday. :(
