Sony dropping all OLED developement

Sony reported to be dropping all development of OLED technology to focus on 4K

This seems like a bad mistake. I'm not a fan of OLED as it is today since it has a lot of drawbacks. namely dynamic range and actual contrast(not dynamic contrast), but mostly because OLED pixels have limited lifetime and die a little time each time they ignite. this also means you get permanent burn in, again. 

 

However, dropping all development of OLED seems like just as bad a decision as when they decides not to develop LCD technology because trinitron was better and now all their panels are Samsung and Sharp. Basically they're repeating history here.

 

Chances are if this turns out to be true, it's a sign that Sony really might be considering dropping the TV segment altogether.
