My cat saved my son

Recommended Posts

Home surveillance video showed how a little boy in Bakersfield, Indiana was saved by a cat. The mother shared the video with local news station 23ABC and described the events seen in the video. Her little boy was playing on his bicycle when a dog snuck up on him and started attacking his leg. This cat is awesome, and I wish mine was more like it.

My cat is a lazy POS that wouldn't care less if I was being attacked.

edit: I watched it again. I love the hip-check the cat does. So great.

That dog seems literally insane, acting playful and happy, with no signs of aggression, right up until the point he decided to clamp down on the childs leg and drag him off.

Sounds a lot like most of my ex-girlfriends..

Dog didnt bite the kid.  Look liked it was his shoe/sock that he was after.  If he was bitten, doubt the kid would be walking or the mom left her lay there. Still aggressive for a dog to do something like that.

It has terrier in it.  I'll never trust them.

I hear this said about pitts all the time as well.  Ive been around both breeds a lot and never had a problem.

Don't understand why the woman left him after though? He's just had his leg attacked by a dog and she leaves him to get up and run inside on his own.

But that cat though, would do a better job at guarding my house than my dog.

Agreed, I feel the responsibility falls on the owner to give proper obedience training.

I never imagined a cat would do that... wow. That dog would probably get put to sleep in the UK for that incident..

When my parents moved several years back, my mom got a box in the mail.  She went in the kitchen, set it on the stove, then went to the dinning room and started eating lunch.  Out cat started jumping on the table pawing my mom on her face.  She was declawed.  After putting the cat on the floor a few times my mom turned around and saw the box on the stove was on fire.  Apparently she hit the button when she put the box down.  Only burned the box since it was caught in time.

Animals are smart, some more so than others.

Incredible! That cat is just... epic. A true hero to stand against that hound, clawing his way in and dashing like a true feline.

I was never a fan of cats but this video is golden compared to all those ###### cat images on internet.

All the best to both of them, cat and child.

Ah frackin finally! It takes forever for there to be a Cat that says, by action, "See, we don't suck". That Cat was awesome!

That Dog has insane. I agree with poster above, I don't trust terriers at all. I've known nice Pitt Bull's and they remain nice. Terrier's just seem to 'snap' at any time for no reason. Even if you treated the thing compassionately and raised it from a puppy.

I then mumble while walking away, "Bite my face while I'm petting you... stupid Dog."

When i was a kid I had a coyote (common in southern cali) start to attack me, my cat (a massive 35lb beast named Baloogah, spelling intentional) jumped from the roof of our detached garage onto the back of the coyote and started biting it and clawing it.

Afterwords cat walked me into the house to guard me. Was scary and hilarious all at the same time. The coyote almost broke in half when my cat landed on his back.

Friend of mine has a big black pit terrier.  One of the nicest dogs and she is a big baby.  But I have know chihuahuas to be more aggressive more than other breed I came a crossed.  Annoying little rat dogs that bit at your ankles.  But everyone's experience differers.  My mom has always been afraid of any black dog since she was attacked by one as a kid.

Then I also have a friend her house cat attacked her.  Clawed her up pretty bad.  Was in the hospital, stitches, scratched/bit...looked like a crime scene.

Oh yeah, actually, my Ex had a chihuahua and it was the most vicious Dog I've ever seen. Thankfully it couldn't even draw blood because it wasn't strong enough to break skin, unless you pulled away quickly from fear of the bite, which some people did. Screw Chihuahua's.

Cats though, I like Cats. Probably obvious. I've met a few Cats I didn't like but most are just awesome. I wish I had a Cat :(

Pitt = mostly terrier

Some dogs have a chance to have a "wild" gene in them.  The thing is, terriers seem to have one of the highest chance.  I have known many breeders and owners and most agree with me.  Raised correctly they have very little chance to have an issue but it does happen.  Don't get me wrong, i've known many great pitt's, bulldogs, etc.

Your local animal shelter is full of them  :)

I live in a Unit, not fair to the Cat. When we buy our House (which we're in the middle of right now) I'll finally be able to get one. It shall be my minion and do all my biddings!
