How many Routers and Switches and yes if you have them even hubs do you have in your home.

I think I have 5 switches (6 if you count one for KVM's) and 4 Routers.

'

1 GB WiFi Router downstairs

1 GB WiFi Router is upstairs in the living room which is a router and not a switch only because I need wifi upstairs because the router downstairs has wifi too but it doesn't reach all the way to the end of the house

1 GB Switch On top router in the living room connecting my TV, Xbox 360, PS3 to the network.

1 switch in the bedroom which connects to the theater PC in Theater, Technically I could remove that switch with a longer cable.

1x  POE switch in the garge powering my Security Cameras

1x GB switch in the downstairs bathroom  connecting the POE switch and the 42 port IP KVM switch to the down stairs switch next to my workstation.

1x GB Switch behind my couch connecting my Server, Printer, Other Router in the bath room to the downstairs router.

2x Router under my repair desk for a poor mans Vlan. 1st router connected to the basement router. 2nd Router is a segregated wifi network to check peoples wifi and is connected to the first. The second router also gives out different IP's ranges that can't talk to one another.

1x KVM 42 port switch in the downstairs bathroom,

People still use hubs? Yikes, get rid of that stuff.

Just 1 router. Had to downgrade back to a normal home setup when I moved.

1 router at phone line socket, powerlined to upstairs, then to a switch, connected to another old router with DHCP deactivated to act as an upstairs wifi access point.

1 router (running DD-WRT).  I'm not running an enterprise here.  At one point I had a second one solely for WEP that I powered only when I wanted to use my DS online but that's long-gone.  Not to mention the DS's online servers are going down tomorrow anyways.

Please explain the use of the routers.  I'm interested.

1 Modem/router (wireless N 300) in the lounge.

2 desktops in the bedrooms, with 2 Tp-link wireless N 300 USB adapters. and a netbook with Wireless N 150 PCI-E card in it. The Xbox 360E is also in the bedroom, and gets online with its built in Wifi

No switches or hubs. But I do have a gigabit 8 port switch, but I'm not using it

Why have more than 1 router, you'll just have more probs getting it to work properly

One router. Gigabit Ethernet connections to:

- My main PC.

- The PC attached to the TV.

- One floating around on my workstation to plug in computers that I need to work on.

Anything else is just unnecessary and excessive. Even thinking about selling the TV PC as I barely use it (and the TV).

2 routers - one for main internet connection, and the other for home networking.

1 Router/modem/gateway w/ Wi-Fi

No printers - come on guys, its 2014 - no need for printers.

Why so many people have multiple routers ?

Seems nobody believes in AP - doesnt that cause problems with multiple routers on a LAN ?

Three routers. My network setup is kind of convoluted, but it works. All three are wireless routers, linked via ethernet, to serve different areas of the house effectively.

Can I mod make this poll pubic? Thanks!

Once you've posted the poll it cannot be switched to public. If you would like you can create a new thread and I will merge all posts to the new one?

Regards
