Replaced Old Monitor 24" Dell Ultra with ASUS now computer boot times are terrible

Im posting this because I cant seem to find anything on google and I thought someone may have run in to this.

 

I got an aging system

ASUS M2NSLI DELUXE

ATI 5770 VIDEO CARD

WIN 7 64bit

 

Previous monitor was 24" Ultra Sharp Dell Monitor from 2008

 

 

New Monitors are ASUS VS248's When I hook them both up using a DVI connection It takes nearly 5 minutes to boot the computer, it hits the windows load screen and just ponders for ever.

 

No USB connected to monitor, no rca, just power and DVI connections.

 

Single Monitor other than ASUS machine boots right up, Hook the ASUS even 1 and it takes a while.

 

Suggestions? Ideas?

I personally have NEVER seen this, but have you updated your drivers?  Namely your video card.

 

Check to see if there are drivers for your monitor.  Most don't need them, but I've seen some that do.

Probably something in startup thats causing it. Post whats installed and whats in startup with ccleaner. I doubt its the monitor. Look in event viewer it'll say whats causing it

I can't imagine what would cause something like this, but some tests come to mind:

 

Have you tried turning on your computer without the DVI cables, and connect them about 1 min later, when Windows is supposed to have booted?does that make a difference?

Have you tried only one DVI cable?

Have you reconnected the old monitor again, is Windows starting up quickly again?

I've seen this happening on a LG screen before. Did you perhaps install any software which came with the monitor? I did that with my brother's LG screen and it took ages for the software to load, reducing Windows's boot time. Removed the software, as it isn't essential anyway and boot times were back to normal. Just a thought.

Seen this on the Mrs machine which has a Saphire 5750 + LG 22" 1080p panel. I found that turning off the EDID (Enhanced Display Identification) & detect monitors automatically resolved it within the Catalyst control panel or swapping to the other DVI port. On the recently released drivers we now get no display on the port with the issue if used with the LG - other brands e.g. Samsung, Dell, Acer all work ok on either port.
