I have a Samsung 32" Smart TV, bought it new beginning of the year, latest OS updates. I gotta say so far, I'm really not impressed at Samsungs OS on this, its very laggy and the wifi really really is bad. I'm not sure what is going on, but the OS constantly forgets my wifi password (had to manually enter the network info and save that ). Now when I am watching netflx, every 5-10 minutes the wifi just disconnects on the TV, it will say its connected to the network but not the internet. Whats even weirder is that even if the network info is saved and connects fine when I turn on the TV, when the wifi crashes it suddenly forgets all my wifi network info. Now yes I could solve this and use wired, but the router is in another room and the house is a rental and not wired up for cat 5. Now I'm not sure if there is a fix for this, if so would anyone on here know? I'm gonna be pretty upset if I have to end up getting chromecast or something similar to use the apps the are supposed work on this tv If not, since I got this at Best Buy, I'm wondering if I just warranty this, just not sure if all of the Samsungs face this issue Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

All I did was set it up to have its own IP address and ISPs DNS and connect to the router, then updated the TVs firmware. From memory is should be smething like 1.7.7.7 or something. Either way it seems like my options are to spend $50 for either a wifi extender, running cat5e through the house to the router or buying chromecast. Yeah, was similar issues with my Samsung... I had the Geek Squad guy over and his suggestion was basically the same as helpifican here. helpifIcan Posted May 31, 2014 Share Posted May 31, 2014 I think it's the companies trying to put everything into the devices so they put low end component in them to keep the price down. ATLien_0 Posted June 3, 2014 Author Share Posted June 3, 2014 Well I think I mostly fixed the issue, I basically had to move the wifi which is in another room on a shelf closer to my room. There are no major obstructions other than the rooms doors. As a test though, I tried netflix on the tv and on my macbook from the same location as my tv. Macbook showed full reception, and was able to reach HD resolution on netflix. I then tested on the TV using the built in wifi tools from Samsung. The software showed very poor reception and netflix still won't reach HD resolution. Its pretty obvious Samsung used a very weak wifi radio/chip, which is really surprising considering what this is supposed to be used for. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Ironman273 Posted June 3, 2014 Share Posted June 3, 2014 My mom has a Samsung that I was going to connect to WiFi but the router is in another room. I was getting no signal so I called Samsung and they told me they only support it out to 20ft (which is ridiculous). I then fired up the Samsung Blu-Ray player she got in the package and it could see the router fine. Unfortunately she finds it too complicated to turn on the BR player to watch Netflix.
