Korean War Memorial is a Historical Photoshop Nightmare

Recommended Posts

A new Korean War monument was unveiled on Memorial Day in Chillicothe, Ohio?an 8- by 6-foot black monolith etched with a collage of war scenes and the names of local soldiers fallen in that war. It's also a disgraceful insult to every American serviceman who fought in Korea and every other war.

If you haven't noticed yet, most of these scenes are not from the Korean War. The monolith?made by some Egyptian company for $21,550?includes everything from Desert Storm soldiers to F-16s fighter jets.

Edit: Here's an image of the memorial.  See if you can spot some of the deficiencies before reading the whole story.

Got to love outsourcing. Keep up the great work, managers!

EDIT: Especially how there are not just one, but two levels of outsourcing. Lovely!

I wouldn't blame the outsourcing, I'd blame the retarded committee:

But perhaps the worst thing is that the design was well known and publicized before it was made. In fact, Donald Darby?a son of Korean veteran?contacted the memorial committee to highlight all these mistakes. The committee?led by Korean War veteran Herman "Jr." Strausbaugh?said they will take care of it.

To me (and I appreciate that I say this as an outsider and my view may not be well received) this represents everything wrong with America.

Known issues are swept under the carpet in favour of not shaking their own tree too much, and eventually the final product is flawed, not what was wanted and just a big piece of crap that will still be held up as an icon.  Provided by a foreign country.

Look, I absolutely love America.  America has the potential to be the greatest nation in the world.  It needs to wake up, wise up, step up and be the land that people should be proud of.

I miss the America that was :(

There's not much I can add to this except, "I agree".

Anyone that wants to see a good Korean War memorial should see the one in Washington DC. Its amazing. Funny that the depiction of the memorial in this memorial is the most appropriate image.
